A Search Engine can be wrong by serving you a bad link. But the link itself is real, as it exists. An AI Chatbot can be wrong by hallucinating, confidently stating a fact that simply does not exist.

This is your opportunity. The biggest weakness of AI is trust. By structuring your content with verified data, citing sources, and using strong E-E-A-T signals (Authorship, Organization Schema), you become the “grounding truth” that prevents the hallucination.

The Convergence
We are no longer living in a binary world. The lines have blurred.
Google’s AI Overviews (formerly SGE) and Bing Chat are hybrids. They use RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation).
- Retrieval – They use traditional search to find real, live documents.
- Augmented – Retrieved information is used to validate and ground the LLM’s response with current, factual data.
- Generation – The LLMs generate a response based on facts.
