Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

• Google Search Console: I use this to monitor the technical health and organic visibility of the site. While this does not typically set user-facing cookies, it processes search query data related to your visits from Google Search.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, tweets, GitHub Gists, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Data Sharing

I do not sell your personal data. However, data is processed by the following engineering tools to maintain site operations:

1. Google Analytics & Hotjar: Anonymized usage data is shared with these platforms to generate site performance reports and heatmaps.
2. Spam Detection Services: Comment data may be passed through automated spam detection services.

Data Retention

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Analytics data (associated with cookies, user identifiers, or advertising identifiers) is retained based on the standard retention periods of Google Analytics (typically 14 months) and Hotjar, after which it is automatically deleted.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have left comments on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where Your Data is Sent
